1939

Ana Lower's religious principles towards medication were severly tested.
Norma Jeane was living with her while she had her first period : she suffered a lot.
Much later during her adult life, she would be diagnosed as suffering from endometriosis.
Then started a long story of gynecological issues that hurt Marilyn during her whole life.


In June, Grace Goddard took the train with Norma Jeane to San Francisco, to visit her mother, Gladys, still hospitalized at the Agnew State Asylum.
Gladys was very calm, without any expression of violence or being hostile. The institution took great care of her and she was obviously well supported.

They won't see each other before 1945.

In September she attended the Emerson High School ().

At the end of the year, she had reached her adult height ().
