Story

Her father Ernst Heilborn (born December 22, 1864, Germany) was assistant director for AEG company and her mother was Antonia Diamant.

They had 2 children, Hanna and Elisabeth "Lisa" (September 7, 1899, Berlin-July 12, 1950, Los Angeles)

().

After private school and Berlin diocese girl school, since 1916 she started socio-pedadogy studies and worked for several years in this way.

In 1922 she graduated and registered at the Technischen Hochschule (technical school) in Berlin-Charlottenburg.

In 1932 she got her doctorate in chemistry from the Berlin University.

At the beginning of the 30's, she applied for the training course of the Psychoanalysis Institute in Berlin.

In 1933, she emigrated to Paris, then a year later to Prague, where she completed her training at the psychoanalysis study group.

Her teacher and analyst was probably Frances Deri; the analysis supervisor was Otto Fenichel who later would become her husband.

In 1938 she became member of the WPV (Viennes Psychoanalytical Society). The same year she emigrated to

the USA () and settled in Los Angeles.

Otto Fenichel (December 2, 1897, Vienna, Austria-January 22, 1946, Los Angeles)(,)

() divorced in 1940 from his first wife Clare Nathanson with who he had a daughter, Hanna (July 17, 1931, Berlin-May 6, 2023, California).

Himself was psychoanalyst (Cf.Marianne Kris), and she was friend with the Greensons.

Otto and Hanna Heilborn married on September 30, 1940 in Los Angeles (-).

She was naturalized in 1943 ().

She became member of the new Los Angeles Psychoanalytic Study Group where she taught analysis.
She specialized in precocious children field.

As famous psychoanalyst and special ed, she worked on child development with the School for Nursery Years de Los Angeles.
She also militated in the Marxist environment of the Psycholanalytic Institute.

According to her wish, in 1975, the San Diego Psychoanalytic Society became the Fenichel Center for Child Development.
