Story
He started as photographer for the San Francisco Examiner.
He belonged to the team of Life magazine from 1943 to 1946, and covered the Second World War in Europe
Then he became director by watching the directors he used to take in pictures working.
He directed great movies and more than 300 TV shows, receiving an Emmy Award in 1974 for "Afterschool Special" on ABC-TV.
On April 30, 1939 he married Evelyn Barnes in San Francisco.
