Story
Her father, E.A Olson was a train conductor and the Olson family lived in a working-class suburb of Duluth, Minnesota, 2833 West Third Street.
She began her career as a young singer in the military band of Duluth, the Duluth Slavation Army Band.
She appeared in plays at her school and sang with a dance orchestra during the holidays.
According to her sister, Joyce Hadley, Dorothy, who used to sing in bars, was sure to go in Hollywood one day.
She passed two tryouts at the Paramount before she get a contract with the Universal Studios.
She met Joe DiMaggio in 1937, during the shooting of the movie "Manhattan-Merry-Go-Round" in which she shortly appeared.
They got married on November 19th 1939 at the St Peter and Paul Catholic Church in San Francisco.Wedding :

They divorced at the beginning of 1944.
Then she married George Schuster, a New-York stockbroker, but this wedding wouldn't last: they divorced in 1949.
With her third husband, Gary Peck, they headed a posh club in Palm SPrings, the Charcoal Charley's, where she sometimes performed.
