List of the agencies having represented Marilyn


As a model :

Blue Book Modeling Agency, headed par Emmeline Snively.


As an actress :

The National Concert Artists Corporation, West Coast Office (9059 Sunset Boulevard), took care of Norma Jeane first movie in 1946, after that Emmeline Snively had contacted her friend Helen Ainsworth, who was helped by Harry Lipton.



The William Morris Agency (202 North Canon Drive, Beverly Hills) took care of Marilyn in 1949  after that its vice président, Johnny Hyde, had fell in love with her. Although Marilyn remained officially there during 4 years, she tried to be represented elsewhere after Johnny Hyde death, at the end of 1950.

At this time, the President of the agancy was Abe Lastfogel.

Letter from the William Morris to Harry Lipton, February 6th 1950 :


 

The Famous Artists Agency signed a 2 years contract after that  Charles Feldman helped her to negociate her second contract with the Fox  in 1951. Feldman was helped, by Marilyn's order, with Hugh French and Jack Gordean. When Marilyn left Hollywood in 1955 to create the Marilyn Monroe Productions with Milton Greene, she stopped any relation with this agency.

Contract with RCA, September 1st, 1953 :

The MCA, Music Corporation of America, followed the Famous Artists Agency in order to re-negociate Marilyn's contract at the Fox.

Marilyn and Milton Greene both agreed with the fact that the best way to guarantee the Marilyn Monroe Productions independence was to ask Lew Wasserman's contacts, himself head of the MCA, to assure the distribution.

The MCA stopped representing her during the last year of her life, when she asked to the lawyer Milton Rudin to take charge.

Jay Kanter also worked at the MCA, at the New York agency. He was married with Judy Balaban, daughter of the founder of the Balaban and Katz Theater, who would become one of the leader of the Paramount.


He attended at Marilyn and Arthur Miller's wedding on July 1st 1956 (); he went with her at the premiere of "East of Eden" on March 9th 1955, in New York; and also  during the visit of the USS Bennington ship in 1955.
