Story
The Cohn brothers, Jack and Harry, ran the studio.
At that time, the Columbia Pictures was one of the lower budget studios and worked because of borrowing the stars from the other studios.
In the 30's,
the studio would make a fortune with "It Happened One Night", a comedy
which would be the basis of the studio celebrity and fortune.
Link with Marilyn :
Her mother Gladys Baker worked there as a film cutter in 1927.
Grace McKee worked also there in 1934.
On March 9, 1948, Harry Cohn,
head of the Columbia, signed a 6 months contract to Marilyn, on the
basis of 125$ a week. She had been recommanded to him by one of the Fox Studios directors, Joe Schenck.
She played in 2 movies, "The Riders if the Whistling Pines" and "Ladies of the Chorus".
Pictures of "The Riders of the Whistling Pines":
Produced by Columbia Pictures, shot in 1948, it's an adventure movie, kind of a western. Marilyn appeared several times, not physically but only in picture. Her part is limited to a pilot's late wife.
