Story
For nearly 50 years, he was the chief hairstylist at the MGM and worked on more than 1 000 movies.
He began his career in New York City, and Claudette Colbert was his first famous client. Then it was Louise Brooks turn, for who he created the famous shingled haircut.
Since, he cut hair and combed generations of stars, including Greta Garbo in "Camille" and Vivien Leigh in "Gone With the Wind".

According to some reports, he was one of the people that Marilyn, very depressed, called the night she died.
According to his autobiography, "Crowning Glory" published in 1996, he wrote that Marilyn planned to publicly reveal her love affair with Robert Kennedy. He also claimed that he had himself an affair with several of his clients, among them Greta Garbo and Ava Gardner.
He belonged to the pallbearers of Marilyn's casket the day of her funeral :
