He courageously supported her when the Fox dismissed her and replaced her by Lee Remick; so he invoked one of his contract clause stipulating that he could refuse his partner and claimed he wouldn't shot the movie without Marilyn. The Fox sued him, he sued the Fox in his turn, and the shooting could start again, mainly because of his intransigence.
After Marilyn had been re hired, she made 2 movie projects with him : a comedy "I Love Louisa" and a detective movie, with no title at the moment, in which the whole team of the Rat Pack would appear.on the set of "Kiss Me, Stupid", of Billy Wilder:
