MILLER Isadore ("Izzie")
Date of birth : 1885, Austria.
Date of death : 1966, Long Island.
Father of Arthur Miller.
Native to the East countries, immigrant in the USA in the 1890's.
Son of Samuel Miller, clothes manufacturer ("S.Miller and Sons") in the Lower East Side, New York City.
He married Augusta on December 31, 1910 in New York.
He was also a prosperous clothes manufacturer (his company was named "Miltex Coat and Suit Company") but he was ruined by the Crisis in 1929.
Isadore hadn't approved, at the beginning, Arthur's wish to write; actually, he simply didn't understand him.

Marilyn immediately got along with Arthur's parents. They often visited Arthur and Marilyn in their apartment of East 57th Street. Marilyn cooked for Isadore and spoiled him when he didn't feel well - a luxuary she hadn't be able to allow to her own father.
He was proud of his friendship with Marilyn; she always remained in touch with him and wrote him long letters.

On February 18, 1962
she visited him in Florida (
), because he felt alone after his wife's
death. She stayed with him for 3 days and they strolled for a long time.
In May 1962 she asked him to accompany her at the Madison Square Garden, where she sang for John
Kennedy; she introduced him as her ex father-in-law and invited him a the party which followed the show.
