MORAN Earl
Earl Steffa Moran.
Date of birth : December 1893, Belle Plaine, Iowa.
Date of death: January 17, 1984, Santa Monica, California.
Story
He studied drawing at the Chicago Art Institute and at the Art Students' League in New York City, at the end of the 20's, beginning of the 30's.
He became famous with his pin-up and glamorous artists drawings (with Vargas and Petty, other illustrators).
He often took pictures of his models, which then were the basis of
his illustrations, which were reproduced on calendars and in joung
women magazines as Flirt, Wink and Giggles.
She needed money and he was one the biggest lovely girls draftsman in the USA.
Between 1946 and 1949, he paid her 10$ an hour to take pictures of her, often not much dressed.
He used those snapshots to make charcoal and chalk drawings, which some of them were used, among others, for the famous Brown and Bigelow calendar.
