RYMAN Lucille

Garnett Lucille Ryman Carroll.

Date of birth : January 10, 1906, Macon County, Illinois.

Date of death : October 23, 2002, Glendale, California.

 

Wife of John Carroll.

Casting director at the MGM :

 

She had carried out the role of a mentor to Lana Turner and Janet Leigh.

In September 1947 she introduced Marilyn to the owners of the Bliss-Hayden Miniature Theater, who entrusted her with a part in "Glamour Preferred"; she embodied a Hollywood starlet whose project to seduce a charming masculine leading role was foiled by his intelligent and honnest wife.

With her husband, they paid Marilyn's lessons at the Actors Lab.

She contributed to convince John Huston to engage Marilyn for the part of Angela Phinlay in "The Asphalt 
Jungle"
(1950).

Beginning of 1954 they were in contact again when Marilyn called Lucille and asked her to completely collaborate with Ben Hecht, who was written an autobiography for her.
