Story

He wrote the first important biography, proceeding to a detailed study of the many rumors according to which the Kennedys would be involved in Marilyn's death.

His biography was published in 1985.

The allegations of this book gave rise to many televised documentaries. 

In 1993 Donald Spoto published his biography of Marilyn. Between the publication of the hardcover book which was extremely critical towards Summers, and its publication in paperback, Spoto said nothing about his accusations about Summers dishonesty, after this one had let him examine the tapes and the transcriptions of the interviews he had handle.

He is also the author of books about John Kennedy and J.Edgar Hoover.
