Story
The "Norma" of Norma Jeane was a tribute to this star, Gladys Baker's favourite actress.
Many considered her as the best actress and the most multipurpose of silent films.
She was the eldest of 3 sisters, also actresses :
In 1917 she married the producer Joe Schenck (
); he helped her to launch the Norma Talmadge Productions, before running the United
Artists, then his own studio, the Fox.She was at the top of the box-office during the 20's until the advent of talking pictures; her string Brooklyn accent became an insurmountable handicap.
In 1926, she withdrew form cinema aged 33; she had shot more than 60 movies.
This same year, she separated from her husband.
Later, she married George Jessell.
Inveterate drug-addict, she died in 1957.
