On February 12, 1956, in his radio program (recorded by the FBI), he announced to the whole country that "the  most famous blonde of the American cinema has became the left-wing intelligentsia sweetheart which included among its members, some Communist activists".

At the time when Marilyn was with Arthur Miller and he was summoned in front of the House Un-American Activities Committee, Winchell informed his listeners that through this "appearance, the whole circle of Miller's friends (was about to be examined) which is also Marilyn Monroe close relatives circle, and they are all former Communist sympathizers!".

On August 8, 1962, because he was friend of DiMaggio, he was the only reporter who attended Marilyn's funeral :

In the issue of August 1963 of Photoplay magazine, he developped the allegations published in the foreign press about a "married man" supposedly involved in Marilyn's death. According to the scenario he devlopped, she would have taken too many doses of drugs after having learned that this famous an admired man, at the climax of his career refused to see her again, for ever. This document brought to the right-wing political allies (like Frank A. Capell) a good way to creat doubts about Robert Kennedy.
