Story
His father was Russian, diplomat at the Tsarist Russian Embassy in La Haye. The family emigrated to France.
In 1944 he married the journalist Monique Therese Vallis (January 9, 1924, Amelie les Bains). They had a daughter Marie-Elise (July 10, 1945, Paris).
They divorced in 1956.
He arrived in the USA in 1948 (,).
He first worked as a photographer in a circus and was elected this year
at the American Society of Magazine Photographers. His wife joined him
in December 1949.
Since 1951, he was a free-lance photographer for the magazines Life, Vogue and Paris-Match. His wife joined the Paris-Match bureau on Second Avenue.
He took pictures of many celebrities including Edith Piaf and Marlène Dietrich.
