Story 

His parents Frank Gustie (April 15, 1901, Illinois-January 1985, Illinois) and Amanda Wreblewski (February 25, 1902, Illinois-December 21, 1990, Illinois) got married in 1919 in Chicago.
They divorced before 1926.

He developed an early love for photography and studied his craft at the Chicago School of Photography.
While in the US Air Force during World War II, he was on several photo assignments and shot pictures of celebrities entertaining the troops, including Bob Hope.

After the war he worked for a Chicago photography studio and became an expert in the emerging field of color photography. He was hired in 1958 by the Chicago Tribune to work exlusively for the color photography studio.
He photographed head of states and first ladies, mayors, professional sports figures, movie and television stars. Although he rarely shot photographs for the news section, he covered Nixon's inauguration and inaugural ball in 1969.
He won numerous awards, including a first place in color from the Inland Daily Press Association and first place from the Chicago Press Photographers Association for color layout. One of his favorite photographs was of ballet dancers performing in the "Nutcracker Suite", a photo that was on display in the Chicago Tribune lobby for a time.
After his retirement in 1983, he was a customer service inspector for American Airlines. He was partially paralyzed after a spinal injury in 1992 and couldn't control his camera, but he continued to serve as a photogaphy teacher to family and friends.

On September 7, 1946 he married Patricia Hope Pounders (March 17, 1924, Iowa-February 2, 2016, Illinois

)().

They had 3 children, Karla K. (August 19, 1948), Kirk William (July 24, 1951) and Kyle Patrick (March 19, 1963).
