LESTER Gene

Born Lester Eugene Dephoure.

Story 

His parents were Henry William (April 1st, 1864, Romania-May 20, 1946, Massachussetts)() and

Rebecca M. Albaum (July 15, 1870, Russia-October 22, 1934, Massachussetts)()

().

He dropped out of journalism studies at Boston University because of the Depression.
His first job was a singer on a Worcester radio station, and eventually, he sang on NBC's nationwide "Capitol Theater Family Hour". Since photography had always been a hobby, he began photographing his better-known colleagues for Radio Guide magazine. The publication moved him to Hollywood, where he later opened his own studio.

In 1940, he became the West Coast correspondent for the Saturday Evening Post, a position he retained for 30 years.

he married Gloria Nell Levinge (February 6, 1918, Alabama-April 15, 1997, Los Angeles)(

). She had won the Miss Birmingham Beauty Pageant in 1936 ().

They had 2 daughters : Gloria Gene (born May 16, 1948, Los Angeles) and Nathalie Eileen (born October 23, 1951, Los Angeles).

In 1959 he produced a CBS television special with Art Linkletter titled "Christmas in the Holy Land".
