Unfortunately, the success goes to the young hero's head. He thinks and plays for him instead of giving priority to the team spirit, and lets himself leading to a dissolute life where the pretty girls like Polly (Marilyn Monroe) plays a part. They are interested in him only because he is a champion. His former lover, Mary (Beverly Tyler), who learned him roller-skating, takes care of him when he's affected by polio... and he can still take part in the championship. He realizes the real sense of life and helps a young team member to win the game and to reap the benefit of it.
