Story
Founded in 1904, the Pierce Brother's Westwood Memorial was a local quiet cemetery until 1962 (,
;,), the year when Marilyn was buried, next to Grace McKee
Goddard, her former guardian () and Ana Lower ().
Other members of Grace's family were buried there, such as her father Wallace Atchinson
(), her mother Emma J.Atchinson (), her aunt Enid Knebelkamp
() and her second husband, Reginald Evans ().
After Marilyn's death, the owner of the Westwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Guy Hockett, carried Marilyn's body
from her residence to the morgue, on August 5, 1962, at 7.30 AM -
The funeral ceremony, limited to some close relatives, took place on August 8, 1962, in the brand new funeral chapel of Westwood Village.

Marilyn's simple stony vault is located in the "corridor of memories", memory alley n° 24 ,
On the other side, there's a commorative bench, wearing a tablet dedicated to the star, from her fan-clubs
"Marilyn remembered" and "All About Marilyn", for the 30th death anniversary .
When she was buried, this cemetery was considered as a place of rest rather old-fashioned.
The closest vault form Marilyn's one was purchased by
Hugh Hefner (founder of Playboy magazine),
who would have paid 85 000$ to have the privilege to rest next to Marilyn for eternity.
