Formerly a stage actress in San Francisco and on Broadway, she went to Hollywood in the 1920s as an agent.
She appeared in thirteen motion pictures in the 1930s and early 1940s as an actress, most notably "The Big Broadcast of 1937" (1936) and "Gold Mine in the Sky" (1938).
She became an agent after her film career, and was instrumental in launching the careers of Hollywood figures such as Marilyn Monroe, Carol Channing, Guy Madison and Howard Keel.
She produced several movies, among them "The Doctor Takes a Wife" (1940), "The Lady is Willing" (1942), "Five Against the house'" (1955), "The Hard Man" (1957), "The 27th Day" (1957), "Bullwip" (1958).
