His parents were both born in Italy and had emigrated to the USA on February 26, 1915 (,

) on the "SS Dante Alighieri" from Genova, Italy.

Amelia Lombardi (December 8, 1891, Lucca, Italy-May 1978, San Francisco) and Alessandro Barsocchini (December 13, 1888, Lucca, Italy-June 2, 1969, San Francisco) married in Lucca, Italy on January 10, 1915.

He had two sisters Lena (April 24, 1912, San Francisco-December 30, 1965, San Francisco) and Rena Theresa (October 13, 1916, San Francisco-June 29, 1992, San Francisco).



Engaged in the US Navy during WWII.

In the 1930's he played base-ball with the San Francisco Seals.

He worked as a waiter for the DiMaggio's family restaurant on Fisherman's Wharf, the "Joe DiMaggio's

Grotto" (,,,,) and became a faithful friend of Joe DiMaggio.

He had his own bar, downtown, the "Reno Barsocchini's" (,) and ran DiMaggio's restaurant.


With his wife Catherine Patricia "Pat" Ann Kelly (September 14, 1921, Michigan-February 15, 2011, San Francisco) they had 2 daughters Nancy Ann (born August 19, 1947, San Francisco) and Rena Marie (born April 27, 1952).


January 14, 1954 he was Joe's best man for his marriage with Marilyn ,




October 6, 1954, he accompanied Joe who left the house he shared with Marilyn, located 508 North Palm
