Son of Ernest George Entwistle, an artist and Florence Vivienne Mellish, known as Vivienne, British photographer
His mother started a career as photographer in 1934, helping her husband and her son. Then, she opened her own studio ("Interalia") and took the name of Vivienne:; she became famous for having taken pictures of several English ministers.
In 1949 he met the actress and English dancer Sarah Churchill (October 7, 1914, London-September 24, 1982,
London), daughter of Winston Churchill (
); they married on October 18, 1949, Sea Island
He arrived in Hollywood at the beginning of the 1950'. He met Johnny Hyde who introduced him to Marilyn.
During the Summer 1950, on assignment for Life magazine, he organized picture sessions at Ben Lyon's home, 1022 Palisades Beach Road in Santa Monica.

In 1954 he directed a movie "Fabian of the Yard" in which his wife Sarah played.
They broke up in 1955.
He died from a drug overdose on August 18, 1957.
