Drake Hotel

 

Location  440 Park Avenue and 56th Street, New York City.

Built in 1926, it offered 495 rooms across 21 floors.

Acquainted in the early 1980s, it was renamed Swissotel the Drake.

Sold in 2006 it was destroyed and replaced by a residential building.

The restaurant Drake Room opened in 1954.

Link with Marilyn

In 1952, Marilyn spent there a week with DiMaggio, during the shooting of "Niagara".

In order to respect the conventions, they took 2 rooms but lived just in one.
