Knickerbocker Hotel

 

Address 1417 North Ivar Street, Hollywood.

Story

Designed in 1923, it was built as the Security Apartments, but never opened. It was completed in 1929 and rechristened the Hollywood Knickerbocker Hotel in June 1929.
The hotel retained its glamor through the 1950s.
In the late 1960s, the neighborhood deteriorated and the place became a residence for drug addicts and prostitutes. In 1970 a renovation project converted the hotel into housing for senior citizens.

Link with Marilyn

Joe DiMaggio lived there during his stays in Los Angeles.

Marilyn went there with him during their first meeting.
