Los Angeles General Hospital

 

The General Hospital was a public hospital in 1878, located 1100 Mission Road, Los Angeles

It then became the Los Angeles County Hospital and today the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center

.

The Art Deco historical building known as the "Great Stone Mother" was located 1200 North State

Street and was built in 1933 (,).

After the earthquake in 1994, a new building opened at 2051 Marengo Street in 2008.

The former building located 1200 State Street still exists.

In January 1934 Gladys Baker entered this hospital after a severe nervous crisis, before being transferred to the Norwalk State Hospital.
