Link with Marilyn

Marilyn gave her last interview for Life magazine, at home, at Helena Drive ().

The interview had been organized by John Springer from the Arthur Jacobs agency; during her last stay in New York City, Marilyn and John Springer had met Richard Meryman at the Savoy Plaza Hotel.

It was a carefully prepared denial, Marilyn having asked to have all the questions, because there was a rumor that after her dismissal from the set of "Something's Got to Give", her career was compromised.

The meeting took place on July 4, 1962 and lasted 6 hours. She didn't want that pictures would be taken because she didn't want that people could see the place where she lived. However she accepted the picture session which took place on July 4, and 9.

The article, published on August 3, 1962, the day before her death, under the title "Fame May Go By And-so Long I've Had You'.

The pictures taken this day were taken by photographer Allan Grant.

Meryman would later say : "I was very impressed, she was much more intelligent than I thought (..). I often thought that she would have become someone very sad if she would have lived until today. Deep inside me, I was convinced that Marilyn was trying to fear her with her pills. She didn't give me the impression at all, to want to commit suicide".

During this interview, Marilyn said one of her most beautiful sentence : "It was the creative part that kept me going, trying to be an actress... And I guess I've always had too much fantasy to be only a housewife".
