Story
His father Frank (September 25, 1875, Czechoslovakia-February 7, 1948), himself photographer, left Vienna, Austria with his family in 1913, and immigrated to Clarkson, Nebraska, his wife Marie Powolny (born Charvat January 26, 1862, Czechoslovakia-September 4, 1944).
On January 6, 1914, Frank senior applied for a permit to build a photo gallery in Clarkson. The Powolny Photo Studio operated for many years : it was a classy studio in its heyday, with nice chairs, props, and backgrounds.
Frank Jr attended school in Clarkson. During World War I, he sevred a year as an artilleryman in the U.S Army.
Around 1923, Frank Jr left for Hollywood with his brother Lad to join the nascent movie industry.
On September 11, 1932 he married Jeanne DeMos (February 18, 1912, Los Angeles-June 14, 1998, Los
Angeles), a dressmaker, in Los Angeles (

).
He married a second time, Frances Margaret "Peggy" Bruner (Sptember 16, 1914, Missouri-December 23, 1988).
They had 2 children : Frank (July 22, 1940-May 5, 1982) and Martha Gay (March 12, 1944, Los Angeles).

world.
