ROXBURY

First house of Arthur Miller, located 153 Tophet Road, at the intersection of Old Tophet Road and Gold Mine
Road 
Miller purchased it during Winter 1947. At that time, he was married to his first wife Mary Grace Slattery
It was a charming house with 7 rooms and white-painted windows with batten shutters and a chimney.

The property included a 22 hectares land and a tennis court.
His cousin, Morton Miller, owned, too, a house, not far from there.
It was in this house that on June 29, 1956, Arthur Miller and Marilyn held a press conference to announce their
wedding 
It was near this house that the reporter Mara Scherbatoff was killed, the day of their wedding.
After their wedding, Miller sold the house for the amount of 29 500$. The takings of this sale were used for buying the second house.

Marilyn contacted Frank Lloyd Wright who suggested her a new plan for the house : a circular living-room with a center down below, overcome with a dome ceiling of almost 20 meters diameter, overlooking the pool, as well as a main bedroom, a guest room and a conference room
