On November 1st, 1925 he married Rosamund Marcus, a pianist (,).
They had a son, Paul, who died at age 43 of a cancer (August 24, 1926, California-May 12, 1969, Los Angeles

). They divorced on February 1st, 1937.

On January 8, 1939 he married Audrey Tate (-).
They had 2 children Patricia (June 25, 1939, Los Angeles) and Timothy Cullinan (March 17, 1942, Los Angeles).
They divorced on April 23, 1948.

On May 12, 1953 he married his last wife, actress Mary Anderson ()(April 3, 1918, Alabama-April 6, 2014, Los Angeles).

He won 4 Academy Awards : "The Black Swan", "Wilson" (1944), "Leave Her to Heaven" (1946), "Cleopatra"

(1963)(,;), and was nominated 17 times.

Link with Marilyn 


On July 19, 1946 for her first screen-test, Marilyn was shot in Technicolor by Shamroy. He was there to be a help to Ben Lyon. His laudatory critic greatly contributed to convince the Fox to give to Marilyn her first contract.

 
 

They worked together 8 years later, for the movie version of "There's No Business Like Show Business" (1954).
