Her friendship with Marilyn (she nicknamed "Maril") lasted more than the affair between her son and Marilyn.
She took her under her protection the day Marilyn came in her house, and she was, from then on, an important
maternal feminine presence for Marilyn.
In 1948, she was a great comfort for her, the year of the death of "Aunt" Ana Lower.

She first married the businessman Bennett Barnes D'Aubery (1906, Illinois-October 19, 1940, Wisconsin)
They had 2 children, Bennett (January 3, 1939, California) and Anne Marie (May 11, 1940, California-November 23, 1997, Los Angeles).
6 years after their meeting, she gave a moral support to Marilyn while her union with Joe DiMaggio was deteriorating. She went with her at the court.
On May 21, 1960, she remarried Lowell O.Race in Las Vegas.
