SYNOPSIS

In the sketch performed by Marilyn and entitled "The Cop and the Anthem", a tramp with gentlemen manners, named Soapy (Charles Laughton), says to his companion Horace (David Wayne), he intends to commit a minor offense so that he would be able to spend the winter months, comfortable in jail. He isn't very talented and has many defeats.

Finally, he accosts a woman (Marilyn Monroe) in the street hoping she would draw the police with her yells. Unfortunately, she is a prostitute.

Because he is a gentleman, he offers his umbrella to "a charming and delicious young lady". About to weep, Marilyn exclaims : "He has called me a Lady!".

Soapy and Horace find refuge in a warmed up church, and Soapy sudenly realizes he could look for a job and thus obtain a warmed up place.

But a policeman observes them. Horace manage to escape, but Soapy is arrested for vagrancy and is sentenced by 90 days in jail.
