), she played opposite Marilyn in "Niagara" (1953) where she was Polly Cutler, the innocent woman taken hostage by Joseph Cotten, at the end of the movie
According to some testimonies, the femme fatale part Marilyn played, had been first written for Jean Peters.
But the most popular version is that she was called upon to stand in
for Anne Baxter, who had withdrew from the project, after the part of
Polly Cutler had lost its importance.
During the shooting of "Let's Make Love" (1960), Jean Peters and her husband Howard Hughes, lived in the apartment above Marilyn and Arthur Miller's one, at the Beverly Hills
Hotel.
). In 1955 they divorced.
Their wedding lasted until 1971; after that, she was, again, the star of some TV movies.
