BERNARD of Hollywood

Born Bruno Bernhard Sommerfeld.

Date of birth : February 2, 1912, Berlin, Germany.

Date of death : June 3, 1987, Los Angeles.

Story

Graduated in psychology of crime from a German unoversity, he left his country shortly before the Second World War. He planned to go to Brazil but changed his mind after he having seen the movie "San Francisco" (1936).

He arrived in New York on August 2, 1937 .

He settled in Los Angeles and opened his studio, the Bernard of Hollywood, 9055 Sunset Boulevard 

().

He was specialized in glamor and pinup girls portraits and became one of most famous modelling photographer from Hollywood.

He was also a publicity photographer for the Palm Springs Racquet Club during 50 years ().

 

He met Marilyn in September 1945 and worked several times with her at the beginning of her career.
