Hometown Story (1951)
At the time when Marilyn
wanted to obtain a part, Johnny Hyde get her one in a propaganda movie for the American industry subsidized by the General Motors.
The movie was took over by the MGM, and Marilyn embodied there a secretary named Miss Iris Martin. The production took place in December 1950.
She wore her own jersey dress that she had already worn in "The Fireball" (1950) and "All About Eve" (1950).
Arthur Pierson, screenwriter, producer and director fo the movie, had already directed Marilyn in "Dangerous years"
(1947), her first movie.

SYNOPSIS
Blake Washburn (Jeffrey Lynn) camehome after having been beaten at the elections for the place of member of the Council of State, by the son of a local powerful businessman. Washburn begins the editorship of an important local newspaper, following his uncle who is retiring. Among the employess he inherits, there's a pretty secretary named Miss Martin (Marilyn Monroe). Washburn begins a campaign against the evil forces embodied by the business world. But when Washburn sister's son is trapped in a mine and saved thanks to the intervention of the machines produced by the industries he's fighting against, he comes back to better feelings.
