Story

The story about an affair between Marilyn and Robert Kennedy is the same than the one with John Kennedy, unlike their love affair, if it existed began after the break up with John Kennedy and would have become a reality after his famous birthday party in May 1962, at the Madison Square Garden.

Some biographers think that only a simple friendship tied them up. It seems that, contrary to John, Robert Kennedy wasn't a love affairs amateur but remained faithful to his wife, Ethel.

In 1960 he was chosen as the best father of the year (;).

According to Donald Spoto, Robert Kennedy and Marilyn only met 4 times, but regularly called each other.
He placed their first meeting at the beginning of October 1961, at Lawford's house. Marilyn, having drunk too much champagne, Robert Kennedy and his assistant, Edwin Guthman, took her back home.

Their second meeting took place on February 1st 1962 during a reception at Lawford's.

They saw each other again in New York on May 19, 1962, during the party given for John Kennedy's birthday

Mid-June 1962 Marilyn was invited in Virginia, at Robert and Ethel Kennedy's home, but something cropped up.

On June 26 or 27, according to the sources, Marilyn invited Lawford and Robert Kennedy to visit her new house, then they all went to dinner at Lawford's house. The conspiracy partisans think that Robert Kennedy travelled to Los Angeles to break up with Marilyn.

No report asserted that they met each other in July 1962, but she called 8 times the Department of Justice.
Robert's assistants and Marilyn's press agent, Pat Newcomb, claimed that those calls were short and friendly.

Another version claims that Marilyn called Robert Kennedy on his private line, he refused to take the call and she contacted the switchboard.

This thesis is contradicted by the fact that this number didn't appear in Marilyn's address book.

The rumors about an affair between Marilyn and him was born in the right-wing political circles, then reached the public favour in 1964, thanks to Frank A. Capell's book.

In 1968 Fred Lawrence Guiles alluded to this affair without ever named Robert Kennedy.

In 1973 Norman Mailer resumed this version and cited names. He nevertheless concluded that there was only a simple flirt between Marilyn and Robert Kennedy.

Sidney Skolsky himself thought that there was nothing between them.

Sidney Guilaroff, one of Marilyn's hairstylists, claimed in his autobiography, that she had called him the day before her death, told him that she had threatened Robert Kennedy to inform the whole world about their affair, and that he had threatened her to silence her.

The partisans of Robert Kennedy's guilt point out the fact that he had both the mobile and the resources to kill Marilyn.

According to some versions, Robert Kennedy was either Marilyn's murder instigator, because she didn't want to put an end to their affair, or John Kennedy's representative, who wanted to put an end to his own affair with her.

On August 3, 1962, Robert Kennedy, his wife Ethel and their 4 children, arrived in California, to stay at John

Bates ranch, a friend of the family .

Robert Kennedy had flown from Washington DC to Chicago, where he had joined his wife Ethel and their children, and from there, had flown to San Francisco.

The ranch was located in Gilroy, à 130 km, south of San Francisco. Their arrival was mentionned in the press, because he prepared the opening speech of the American Bar Association conference for the next Monday.
Many witnesses made them out in the ranch during the week-end and in San Francisco on the Sunday

afternoon (,,,,

Neverthless, there are some contradictory testimonies about Robert Kennedy's presence in Los Angeles at the moment of Marilyn's death.

The former Los Angeles mayor, Sam Yorty, asserts Robert Kennedy's presence in Los Angeles.

On the contrary, John Bates maintained that he hadn't left the ranch during the whole Saturday.

When they left California, the Kennedys flew to the State of Washington, where Robert Kennedy had to trek with William Douglas, one of his partner at the Department of Justice.

Robert's movings in California and in the State of Washington are among the FBI file about him.

A neighbor of 5th Helena Drive asserts having seen him on Saturday, August 4, 1962.

In 1985 Eunice Murray changed the version of the events she has maintained until then, claiming that Robert Kennedy had really come at Marilyn's home in the afternoon of August 4.

Recently, some informations about the arrest, early in the morning of August 5, 1962, of Robert Kennedy and Peter Lawford for speeding, had been mentionned, once again; but, because of their identities, the policemen would have let them go.

Some suicide partisans think that Robert Kennedy was actually at Marilyn's home and he was unvoluntarily involved in the tragedy. His commitment would have gone beyond the dissimulation of embarrassing evidences of his presence, and his hurried leaving with Peter Lawford, to take an helicopter and reach a local airport, in order to come back to San Francisco.

The other elements of the file are the tapes seized by the police about the phone calls sent out from Marilyn's home after the presumed time of her death, a seizure which would have been made on Robert Kennedy's order.

Despite his statement, there wasn't any public investigation.

The LAPD chief William Parker would have pointed out that, as recognition for the delicacy he used to treat the case, Robert Kennedy would have offered him the place of director of the FBI.

Robert was murdered in the Embassy Room of the Ambassador Hotel, in Los Angeles, on June 5, 1968, after the celebration of the Democrats victory at the California primary

;,,,,.

His murderer was a 25 years old Jordanian, Sirhan Bishara Sirhan; he killed Robert Kennedy because this one had supported the Israeli cause.

He died on June 6, 1968, after a 4 hours neurosurgery.

Docteur Thomas Noguchi practised his autopsy.
