His parents were Chaim "Harry" Siegel (September 15, 1871, Russia-January 30, 1942, Wisconsin

On November 15, 1931 he married Frances Louise Burns (July 10, 1909, Iowa-May 1, 1986, Illinois) in Illinois.

They divorced before 1935.
He graduated from the Chicago Rush Medical School.
