Between January and April, she was transferred to the Agnew State Hospital, a psychiatric hospital located
in Santa Clara, California. She would stayed there until 1945 (,,

Grace McKee () kept on the necessary steps so she could become Norma Jeane's guardian.
She knew there was a place for the little girl at the Los Angeles Orphanage ().
Waiting for that, Norma Jeane was welcomed by Grace's neighbours, the Giffens. She stayed 2 months with them.
Grace asked the authorities that Norma Jeane could be allowed to live with her, at Lodi Place.
Grace also asked to be named as Gladys' only property manager (,).
Monday, March 25, Grace declared under oath willing to be Norma Jeane's guardian.

Saturday, June 1st, the day of Norma Jeane's 9th birthday, Grace obtained the responsability of
Gladys' whole property ().
The Plymouth car was sold, so were the piano and the Arbol Drive's home.
Saturday, August 10, Grace married Ervin in Las Vegas ().
Back to Los Angeles, they settled in a bungalow located 6707 Odessa Avenue, Van Nuys, in the
San Fernando Valley (,,,,

Norma Jeane lived there, with them, until September.
The process of the guardianship wanted the girl to be in a State Service for a while. That's why Grace dropped her on Friday, September 13at the Los Angeles Orphanage, the Los Angeles Orphans Home Society
(,). She would remain there until October 1936.
The boys and the girls lived in separate buildings; the bedrooms they shared with 4 or 6, were cleaned and tidy.
The children could earn 5 or 10 cents a week, by doing some job according to their age and physical condition.
Norma Jeane's file described her as a girl "healthy and normal, with
good appetite and sleep. She seems happy, doesn't complain and also
says loving her classroom".
