Cedars of Lebanon Hospital
Story
Founded by Kaspare Cohn (), the first building, the Kaspare Cohn Hospital opened on September 21, 1902 at 1441 Carroll Avenue; it offered 12 beds. The services were free. Kaspare Cohn wanted the place to welcome Jewish patients with tuberculosis.
From 1906 to 1910, Sarah Vasen, first female doctor in Los Angeles, became the medical executive of the
In 1910, the second building, larger, was built on 4334 Stephenson Avenue (today Whittier
Boulevard)(,). It offered 50 beds and a 10-cot tubercular ward.
Gradually, it transformed from a charity hospital to a general one.
In 1930 it was transferred to 4833 Fountain Avenue, where it opened as the Cedars of Lebanon Hospital; it was able to welcome 279 patients.
In 1961 it merged with the Mount Sinai Hospital and became the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
(), as it's still known today.
In 1973, it was transferred to 8700 Beverly Boulevard, Los Angeles. Today, it is the biggest hospital in California with 12 000 employees and 960 beds, and one of the best of the USA.
The Fountain Avenue buildings were purchased by the Scientology church in 1977 (,

In 1950, she visited Johnny Hyde, who died there on December 18.
In 1952 she had some exams there for abdominal pains : she was operated of the appendicitis on April 28 by Drs Marcus Rabwin and Leon Krohn.
She wrote a note to Doctor Rabwin for preserving her ovaries, and taped it on her belly before the surgery

From November 6 to 12 : hospitalized for endometrium inflammation, operated by Dr Leon Krohn.
