Friday, January 11, costume tests for Marilyn's next movie "We're Not Married" (,

,,) she would shoot in May.

Friday, January 18, picture session at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (,,).

Marilyn hired Inez Melson () as financial consultant and property manager.

She was also in charge of Gladys' guardianship, Marilyn's mother ().

In February, beginning of the production of "Monkey Business" with Cary Grant (,,

,), directed by Howard Hawks ().

It was during this production that she met the writer-scriptwriter Ben Hecht (), with whom she would start to write her autobiography in 1954.

Saturday, January 26 she was awarded as "The Best Young Box Office Personality" at the Henrietta Awards

FEBRUARY

Beginning of February, she met the base-ball's best player Joe DiMaggio () at the Villa

MARCH

Saturday, March 1, Marilyn was seen by a doctor for abdominal pain and fever; Dr Elliot Corday () diagnosed an appendicitis. She remained hospitalized with antibiotics at the Cedars of Lebanon Hospital.
After a week, she went back to work, whitout having been operated.

Thursday, March 6 she attended the party of Look magazine's awards at the Beverly Hills Hotel (,

,). Her friend Sidney Skolsky was there () as well as the actress Ginger

Rogers ().



The Fox' press department learned she had posed naked for a calendar.

Thursday, February 13, Marilyn revealed the truth about the naked pictures taken by Tom Kelley for the

Friday, April 4, she sang "Do It Again" and "Somebody Loves You" in front of 10 000 Marines in Camp

Friday, April 18, the Fox extended her contract. Her salary got a raise up to $750 a week, since May 11.

Wednesday, April 23, John Stewart Elay, her mother's husband died from a heart attack, aged 62.

In April she was interviewed by Dick Whittinghill for the Southern California Radio ().

Monday, April 28 she was hospitalized at the Los Angeles Cedars of Lebanon Hospital for an appendicitis.

She was operated by Dr Marcus Rabwin (), assisted by the Ob/Gyn Dr Leon Krohn

().

Before the surgery, Marilyn was sure that the procedure could compromise her ability to get pregnant.
She taped a memo on her belly, a message in which she begged him to be very careful : "Very important to read before the surgery. Dear Doctor, cut the less possible. It can seem unimportant I know but it's not about that-the fact that I'm a woman is important and means a lot to me. Please save (I couldn't ask more) what you can save. I'm im your hands. You have children and you must know what it means-please Doctor-I think you'll understand! Thanks. For God's sake dear Doctor don't remove the ovaries-I beg you once again to fo your best to limit the scars-I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Marilyn Monroe".

Tuesday, May 6 she had some rest in her apartment at the Beverly Carlton Hotel. Joe DiMaggio often visited her.
Some fans had discovered her address so she left to live in a suite at the Bel Air Hotel (,

She rehearsed the musical numbers of her next movie "Niagara" with the singing teacher Phil Moore

Tuesday, September 2 she posed at the Haddon Hall Hotel with the contestants for Miss America

She posed for an Army photographer with young American girls wearing the uniform

(,). But the pics were considered too suggestives and weren't published.

For advert purposes, she led the Miss America parade : it was a premiere for a woman.

So she was designated as Grand Marshall (,) and led the parade on the Atlantic

City Broadwalk (,,).


Wednesday, September 3 she visited an hospital for children, the Betty Bacharach Home for Afflicted Children

in Atlantic City (,,), before going back to New York City

). The production of these short-stories took place between November 1951 and June 1952. The right date of Marilyn's shooting is unknown.



Friday, October 17 Marilyn signed a check to Natasha Lytess, paying her the lessons

Saturday, October 18 she recorded an episode of the Edgar Bergen's radio show, of which she was the star,

at the NBC studios (,). In this episode, the puppet Charlie McCarthy proposed her, which she agreed to.
The rehearsals had taken place between October 7 and 18 ().

DECEMBER


Beginning of December she bought at auction some manuscripts from Max Reinhardt, Natasha Lytess' mentor

She attended a party along with the journalist Earl Wilson and the actress Esther Williams
