JANUARY

Thursday, January 5, costume tests for her next movie "The Fireball" (,,

). Produced by the Fox, the shooting took place in January and February.

That was during this production that Marilyn met Agnes Flanagan, one of the hairstylists of the studio.
 
They made friends and Agnes would remain a faithful friend (), attending Marilyn's funeral.


MARCH

Friday, March 3 release of "Love Happy" (,,,).

Mid-March she had an audition for "The Corn is Green" at the Player's Ring Theatre (,

).

Monday, March 27 she was chosen for the part in "All About Eve" with the guarantee of a week of shooting.


APRIL


Tuesday, April 4, costume tests for "All About Eve" ().

Friday, April 21, another costume tests (,).

Contract from the Fox for the shooting's time, dated May 11 to June 7 ().

MAY

Friday, May 19, release of "A Ticket to Tomahawk" ().

Tuesday, May 23 release of "The Asphalt Jungle" (,,,

,,,). The movie was a success and won 4 nominations to the Academy Awards.


JUNE

For her birthday on June 1st, Joe Schenck offered her a little chihuahua named Josefa

(,).


Tuesday, June 20 she attended the 76th Shriners Annual Convention at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

JULY

Thursday, July 20, visit to the US Marines going to Korea; she was named "Miss Morale of the

Marines Corps" (,-,).

AUGUST

Tuesday, August 8, photo session with the photographer Ed Clark in Griffith Park (,

With Johnny Hyde they attended a party at Danny Kaye's in the honor of Viven Leigh who arrived in Hollywood

for the production of "A Streetcat Named Desire" directed by Elia Kazan ().


That was the first time she met him, just like Laurence Olivier (), Vivien Leigh's husband.
 

In August she shot "Right Cross" (), produced by the MGM.



SEPTEMBER


Monday, September 25 the Fox authorized ()  that Marilyn's name and image would be used by the

LeGalion Perfume Company, for the publicity of their "Sortilege Perfume" ().

She took night school at the UCLA (University of California Los Angeles) in literature and history of art, on Tuesdays, for 10 weeks.

To avoid too many expenses, she shared Natasha Lytess's apartment, 1309 North Harper Avenue, West

Hollywood. ().



OCTOBER

DECEMBER


Saturday, December 2, Marilyn launched a Mexican Airlines plane, first direct flight from Los Angeles to Mexico

in 5 hours (,,,).


Tuesday, December 5 she had a screen test for the movie, produced by Fox, "Cold Shoulders"

(,). This movie would never been produced but she was chosen for another one "As Young As You Feel".

In December she shot a movie produced by the MGM "Hometown Story" (,

,).

Sunday, December 17, Johnny Hyde went to have some rest at the Racquet Club Resort Hotel in Palm Springs, but he had a heart attack. He died on Monday, December 18 at the Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Los Angeles.

Natasha Lytess was the one to discover Marilyn at her home, unconscious; she had taken some drugs, desperate with Johnny Hyde's death. She was taken to the hospital where she had a stomach pump.
