JANUARY


In January Marilyn went back to live at the Beverly Carlton Hotel ().

Monday, January 22, costume tests for "As Young As You Feel" (,,).


Beginning of the production of "As Young As You Feel" directed by Harmon Jones for the Fox

(,,).

She had an affair with Elia Kazan (), she had met him in 1950 and was first friend with him.


During a party where they were invited at Kazan's agent Charles Feldman's (), she met the author

Arthur Miller (). He was friend with Kazan, had just finished to write "The Hook",  Kazan hoped to direct.



FEBRUARY


February, picture session at the Fox for Valentine's Day ().

Wednesday, February 21, she attended the annual party of the Hollywood Foreign Correspondents at Ciro's

(,).


Friday, February 23, Kazan went back to New York.



MARCH

Saturday, March 10 she posed with White Sox Chicago's players, at their training camp in

Pasadena, California. With the players Gus Zernial, Joe Dobson and Hank Majeski (,,

).

The next day, Sunday, March 11, she was the mascot of the Kiwanis base-ball game at the Gilmore Field.

Thursday, March 29, she appeared at the Academy Awards Ceremony; she gave Thomas Moulton the Oscar

for the Best Sound Recording for his performance in "All About Eve" (;,).

The Fox offered her the contract she covetted.

Johnny Hyde's associates at the William Morris Agency negociated the contract.

The Fox assured her a $500 wage a week, whether she played or not. The studio reserved the right to renew the contract the following year. Her salary would be $750 the second year, $1250 the 3rd year, $1500 the 4th year, $2000 the 5th year and $2500 the 6th year.
A clause linked her to the studio for 7 years. She could be dismissed without any explanation and the studio had the authority to impose a role. She could also be "loaned" to another studio, by only giving her the weekly wage.


Her contract started on May 11 and she obtained the appointment of her drama teacher, Natasha Lytess.

Saturday, June 16 a group of actors and actresses welcomed the ship USS Manchester coming back home

from Korea (,).


Tuesday, June 19, visit of the ship USS Benham for a special screening of "The Frogmen" that Fox

produced about the Marine's elite unit (,,).



AUGUST

Saturday, August 4, Marilyn was elected "Miss Cheesecake 1952" by the army magazine Stars and Stripes; she took part to a party given at the Farmer's Market, in the honor of Michael Gaszynski, a Polish diplomat who was

celebrating his American citizenship (,,,,).

Wednesday, August 8, costume tests for "Let's Make It Legal" (,).


In August, beginning of the production of "Let's Make It Legal" (;,,

).

She went to New York City and attended the play "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" with Carol Channing. She lived at

the Sherry Netherland Hotel ().

SEPTEMBER



In September, publication of Collier's magazine ().

Marilyn took drama lessons with Michael Tchekhov (), nephew of the playwright Anton Tchekhov.

End of September, publication of Modern Screen magazine (,,,).


She was loaned to the RKO for the production of "Clash by Night" for 10 weeks and a $1000 bonus a week.
The shooting started on Monday, September 24.

The movie took place among fishermen and canneries in Monterrey, California (,

). Marilyn played Peggy, a girl who worked in a cannery and was engaged with the

heroine's brother (,).
