They had met several times at the beginning of 1955 through their mutual friend Norman Rosten, but they had started their relationship at the end of Spring 1955.

Tuesday, June 19 juin she contacted her lawyer Irving Stein because she wanted to change her will and leave Arthur Miller her possessions. She also asked Stein to study the possibility that the Marilyn Monroe Productions would purchase Miller's work film rights.

Thursday, June 21, along with his lawyer Joseph Rauh, Miller appeared in court, in front of the HUAC (House

Un-American Activities Committee) in Washington DC (). Marilyn remained in New York City.

In March 1956 Miller had applied for a passport because he intended to travel to London for the premiere of his play "A View From the Bridge" and to accompany Marilyn who was supposed to film "The Prince and the Showgirl".

Friday, June 29 Morton Miller picked them up and drove them to his home. The reporters quickly chased them;

one of the following car lost control and had a terrible accident (,).

AUGUST

Tuesday, August 7, beginning of the filming at the Pinewood Studios (,,

,).

The movie had a difficult start. Laurence Olivier's work methods, as a classic actor and Lee Strasberg's Method, were completey opposite. Paula Strasberg's permanent presence on the set irritated Laurence Olivier, who also directed the movie. Olivier had a condescending behavior toward his partner he considered as a pure Hollywood product, from which he would demand the greatest docility. From Olivier, Marilyn received the directive to "be sexy". This incident concluded the end of normal work relations between Olivier and Marilyn.
She stopped believing in this part from which she had thought it could have changed her image.

The week of August 13, the filming took place a little better than the previous week (,

,,,).

Inadvertently she found out an opened notebook on which Arthur wrote. She was dismayed to read that he already felt doubts about their wedding and was afraid that Marilyn would compromise his own creativity.
